Hello :)
I'm 23 weeks pregnant and have 23 yrs :) Its my first pregnancy. However, during all this time my TSH was high 3-29-4.3 and i'm on 25 mg of Synthroid.
I was wondering can i take the ThyroSense supplement along with the Synthroid while being pregnant?

For now everything's fine with the pregnancy and i'm not having any hypo symptoms. Also my T's are in the upper normal range.

Your advice will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you
Lana

Hello Lana,

I suggest that you wait until after your baby is born to start taking ThyroSense. If you had already been using ThyroSense before you got pregnant then you could have simply stayed on it during pregnancy. But I am always cautious about adding supplements during pregnancy other than essentials fatty acids, a multivitamin with minerals and iron. Fatty acids including DHA are especially important during pregnancy. DHA is often very low in North American women and it is a key component in fetal eye, brain and heart development. Once you have your baby then yes start ThyroSense 2 capsules per day with breakfast. You take the ThyroSense along with the Synthroid. The best range for TSH is between .5 and 2.0.  Have a wonderful pregnancy.

Kind regards, Lorna

Thanks for the replay.
I'll start taking the supplements once I give birth.Regarding the fatty acids , i wanted to add those to my prenatal vitamins but I'm getting all this different information.I know taking omega 3 supplements is healthy but i was told to stop once i got pregnant since they weren't sure from which fish the oil used to make the supplements comes from. However, I'm not from North America.I  just came here.I come from south Europe so I'm pretty much sure that i don't have this deficiency :)

My TSH is over 3.Well over 4 at the moment but the free T's are in the upper range so  i guess it's just normal for me.I'm still taking the Synthroid even though it doesn't change a lot the TSH level.
I'm in my second trimester where they say the TSH should be around 3.I have no symptoms what so ever , nor even had.I'm guess that the ThyroSense will help once i give birth to prevent any further thyroid hormone fluctuations.

Thanks again for your replay.

Hello LaNa,
If you want to take a fish oil, look for one that is pharmaceutical grade that has been tested for quality and purity (i.e. certified to contain no contaminants). I personally like the Carlson brand. Kind regards, Lorna
