    • Strontium Citrate and a "Mild Renal Insufficiency"

Can an 87 yr. old with a "mild renal insufficiency" take a whole foods product for bone health that contains 3.8 to 5 mg. of strontium citrate? (One brand of strontium citrate had a warning for people with renal disorders and I don't know if an insufficiency puts my mom in a category of "renal disorder.") Mom's DEXA scan revealed spinal ostopenia and osteoporosis in her femur tip and wrist, and her doctor wants to put her on Fosamax, in which I have no confidence, because I've read about the bisphosphonates.  (Mom had a stroke in Dec. 2007 with resultant vision and memory/decision-making problems, and is on three meds.) .
