I would really like to use the Garden of Life products for my mom who is in an assisted living home. The home has all meds and supplements carded (on blister-pack cards), using a machine that operates at 350 degrees for 10 seconds in the carding operation. Will the ten seconds of heat in the carding process significantly diminish the effectiveness of the raw, probiotic or oil products of G.of Life (or other organic, whole food products)? I read that, generally, the nutritive value of food is compromised at a temperature of 118 degrees...Have you, Jordan, done any tests in this regard with G. of Life products, or do you, or does anyone, know of any tests/studies done regarding this carding-heat issue?

Do you think that the benefits of the G. of Life (or other whole food/natural source) products - compromised in this carding-heat situation - would outweigh using standardized, pharmaceutical supplements with chelated minerals?

It would be so great if Mom could have the Garden of Life raw calcium, Primal Defense Ultra, Oceans Better Brain, RM-10 Ultra, the raw Kombucha, Vit. Code 50 & Wiser Women's, and maybe even the B-complex, C, E, and Antiox. Formula. (Although with the Use-Caution pertaining to "if under medical supervision" on the last four products, I don't know if any combiination of one or more of the last four with the aforementioned products would fly with Mom's doctor). (Mom is on Aggrenox, Lisinopril/HCTZ and Metropolol....)

Thank you very much, Jordan and All, for any help you can give me.

I believe the use of Garden of Life products that have undergone a brief period of heat would still be more beneficial than not taking them. For example, the key probiotics in Primal Defense can tolerate 350 degrees of heat and still survive. And of course, I'm sure you will check with your mother's physicians before starting her on a supplement program. I do believe whole-heartedly in our products and their ability to empower extraordinary health. Best of health to you and your family.

Hi Painter2- I saw your post and was curious about this carding process? I have never heard of this. What exactly is this.

Hi Frannie,

Thanks for asking. Mom's assisted living home doesn't want their staff having to open and close all kinds of bottles in the process of dispensing to patients.

While I'm deducing further reasons for their decision to have carded meds and supplements,  I would think that it could be easy to get confused as to which bottle you just dipped into, or to miss a bottle - as well as the issues of sanitation in the handling of product, more time involved in and more space utilized in handling bottles rather than cards, and it's easier to read dispensing instructions on a card. Then, too, one can see at a glance that you have at least 30 dosages available (there are 30 bubbles on one card).  (Not that I like the system, because it is limiting my choices, but I do understand why it is in place.)

Thank you, Jordan, for responding to my question.

Interesting. I have never heard of this but then again I am all for implementing techniques that minimize possible mishandling and also possible mistakes.
